Triarc acquires Wendy's for $2.34 billion
NEW YORK Triarc Cos. Inc. completed its $2.34 billion takeover of Wendy's International Inc. yesterday, making way for new sandwiches and drinks at the No. 3 hamburger chain. The deal - in the works for years - combines Wendy's with Arby's, which is owned by Atlanta-based Triarc. "Ithink thrilled is the word to come to mind," said Roland Smith, the new chief executive of Wendy's and the former CEO of Triarc, of the deal closure.
